Microtool S.r.l. has been manufacturing precision abrasives since 1978, specializing in custom-made abrasive files and grinding wheels in vitrified rigid abrasive with non-resinoid, inorganic bonds.
MICROTOOL product sizes range from 5mm×5mm up to 20cm in length. 90% of production is in corundum (aluminium oxide), 10% in silicon carbide. Firing takes place in a 1m×1m gas kiln reaching 1280°C.
The abrasive is blended with clays and sodium feldspar in an industrial mixer, dried, shaped by pressing or water-jet cutting with diamond tools, then fired and packed in small cardboard boxes.
